Randy Travis Gets Arrested For Public Intoxication, Apologizes

Country star Randy Travis now shares something in common with “Jersey Shore” cast member Snooki – both have been arrested for public intoxication. Yesterday morning Travis, like many Americans, continued celebrating the New York Giants’ victory at the Superbowl, but he took it a little too far. Texas police found the singer in his truck with an opened bottle of wine in hand, and he was arrested.

After being released from the Denton County jail in Texas, Travis released a statement apologizing for his behavior:

“I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl. I’m committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions.”

Travis was charged with public intoxication, but released a few hours after being arrested. Since he was found parked and not driving, he avoided being charged with drunk driving. According to Rolling Stone, Travis will probably have to pay a fine up to $500.

Apparently when he was found, parked in front of a church, Travis told officers that he got into a fight with his girlfriend. Police said that he kept slurring his words and was unaware of where he was.

Travis is scheduled to start his tour on Friday at Spirit Mountain Casino is Oregon.
